Football Game Preview: Clinton Gaels vs. Hudson Hawks

Clinton is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will welcome the Hudson Hawks at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

On Friday, Clinton was fully in charge, breezing past Bay Path RVT 36-7. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-0.

Clinton had a senior duo take command as Taetum Cassella rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and Connor Cox rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Clinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

One reason for the win was Clinton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jake McNamara and Alain Abaya, who racked up five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Hudson never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South 37-0. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.

The win made it two in a row for Hudson and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.5 points over those games. As for Clinton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Clinton was taken down by Hudson 40-13 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Gaels, Jacob Attaway (who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 106 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
