Baseball Recap: Ravenswood Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ravenswood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Gilmer County Titans by a score of 10-6. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Evan Swain made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Swain was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Hickman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Wolfe, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Ravenswood lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Ravenswood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gilmer County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ravenswood will square off against Sissonville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilmer County, they will face off against Braxton County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
