Softball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

Newark fell victim to Teays Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Newark saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Back, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Newark's loss dropped their record down to 4-11-1. As for Teays Valley, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Coming up, Newark will be playing at home against Hamilton Township at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Teays Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Olentangy Liberty at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
