Baseball Game Preview: Susquehannock Warriors vs. Spring Grove Rockets

The Susquehannock Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Spring Grove Rockets at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Susquehannock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Susquehannock beat West York Area 8-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Luke Whelan looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Susquehannock got a big performance out of Brayden Krebs, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Krebs a new career-high in doubles (two). Nick Bender also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Spring Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over South Western on Wednesday. Considering the Rockets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Owen Grove, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Spring Grove is undefeated when Grove posts two or more runs, but 1-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Abrum Dull, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

The victory snapped Spring Grove's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-5-1 record. As for Susquehannock, their record is now 7-3.

Susquehannock's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Spring Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Susquehannock continue to outrun the ball?

Susquehannock might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Spring Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
