Football Game Preview: Palmetto Mustangs vs. St. Joseph's Catholic Knights + Official Tickets

Palmetto is on a four-game streak of home losses, and St. Joseph's Catholic a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Palmetto Mustangs will be playing at home against the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Palmetto is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Powdersville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Patriots and fell 45-14. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when St. Joseph's Catholic and Southside Christian meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Knights lost 27-7 to the Sabres. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

St. Joseph's Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Palmetto suffered a grim 35-14 defeat to St. Joseph's Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, William Gillespie (who rushed for 153 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
