Baseball Game Preview: Boswell Pioneers vs. Lake Ridge Eagles

The Boswell Pioneers will take on the Lake Ridge Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boswell has six straight wins, Lake Ridge has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, it was close, but Boswell sidestepped Newman Smith for a 6-5 victory.

Meanwhile, Lake Ridge fell victim to Martin and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Lake Ridge got a good showing from Hayden Jones, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jones has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances.

Boswell's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14-3.

Boswell was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Ridge when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
