Basketball Recap: Pioneer Takes a Loss

Pioneer lost against St. Mary back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pioneer Mustangs took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Rams.

St. Mary's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Hinkston, who posted nine points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Roman Castro, who had eight points and three steals.

Pioneer's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for St. Mary's, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Leigh at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for St. Mary's, they will take on West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
