Preview: New Richmond Lions vs. Goshen Warriors

New Richmond is 9-1 against Goshen since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The New Richmond Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Goshen Warriors at 7:30 p.m. New Richmond will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Goshen is ranked 80th).

New Richmond suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 78-40 defeat at the hands of West Clermont. New Richmond found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 12 fewer assists than your opponent.

New Richmond's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grant Hess, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, and Ryan Keith who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Keith pulled down eight or more rebounds.

Meanwhile, Goshen came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 70-44 margin over Wilmington. Goshen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.

New Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Goshen, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

New Richmond ended up a good deal behind Goshen in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 68-52. Will New Richmond have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
