Softball Game Preview: C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons vs. South Johnston Trojans

The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons will challenge the South Johnston Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, C.B. Aycock came up short against West Johnston and fell 6-1. The Golden Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, South Johnston entered their tilt with Fike on Thursday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Demons an 18-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Strickland was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Cox, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Emma Williford, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

South Johnston pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for C.B. Aycock, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
