Basketball Recap: Damonte Ranch Comes Up Short

Damonte Ranch faced Spanish Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs were dealt a 66-29 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Kylee Moscove and Alora Delorme certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Moscove posted six points and five rebounds, while Delorme earned four points and six boards.

Damonte Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Spanish Springs, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Looking ahead, Damonte Ranch and Reed will face off at 5:15 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Mustangs will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Spanish Springs and Piedmont will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
