Basketball Recap: Dougherty Takes a Loss

Dougherty came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 68-33 loss at the hands of the Monroe Golden Tornadoes. The match marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Dougherty still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Kitchens, who posted eight points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jawuan Jinks Jr, who put up eight points.

Even though they lost, Dougherty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Monroe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nehemiah Tinch out in front who scored 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Tinch a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Still, who went 5-for-6 en route to 17 points.

Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Monroe, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Dougherty nor Monroe have any future games scheduled.
