Basketball Game Preview: Spearfish Spartans vs. Stevens Raiders

Spearfish is 2-8 against Stevens since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Spearfish Spartans will face off against the Stevens Raiders at 1:45 p.m. Spearfish will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Spearfish is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Roosevelt by a score of 53-45.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stevens). They breezed past Huron to the tune of 78-35 on Friday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.

Spearfish pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Stevens, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.

Spearfish couldn't quite finish off Stevens when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 55-52. Can Spearfish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
