Baseball Game Preview: Santa Clara Bruins vs. MacDonald Condor

The Santa Clara Bruins will square off against the MacDonald Condor at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santa Clara has five straight wins, MacDonald has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Santa Clara made easy work of Monta Vista and carried off an 11-4 victory. Considering the Bruins have won three games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaxton Chao made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Chao was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Santa Clara let Andrew Traffas and John Kepner run wild. Traffas scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Kepner went 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Kepner a new career-high in triples. Dominick Chavarria was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, MacDonald might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Saratoga who claimed the real prize. MacDonald came up short against Saratoga, falling 11-1.

MacDonald's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Santa Clara, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
