Football Recap: Gatewood Comes Up Short

Gatewood extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-7. They were dealt a 48-14 loss at the hands of the Brentwood War Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 419th, while the War Eagles are ranked 196th).

Although Gatewood took the loss, they still got scores from Landon Moreno and Ben Brannen.

As for Brentwood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. Considering they have won nine games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Abe Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, while also picking up 62 receiving yards. His longest rush was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Tristan Robinson, who gained 160 total yards and a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Gatewood will host Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 48 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Brentwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
