Football Recap: Mansfield Summit Skates Past Grapevine with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mansfield Summit). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Grapevine Mustangs 58-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-14.

Mansfield Summit got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Omogbolahan Daudu out in front who rushed for 173 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Those 173 rushing yards gave Daudu a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ian Gebhardt, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Mansfield Summit's run defense was locked in: Grapevine could only muster 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Avery Hardman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mansfield Summit didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.4.

Although Grapevine took the loss, they still got scores from Brady Kays and Jailen Holmes.

The win (which was Mansfield Summit's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games. As for Grapevine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
