Baseball Game Preview: Kutztown Cougars vs. Berks Catholic Saints

Kutztown is 2-8 against Berks Catholic since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Saints at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kutztown 1.1, Berks Catholic 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Kutztown was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Antietam on Friday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Berks Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hamburg on Thursday. The Saints came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 11-8. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Kutztown's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Berks Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Kutztown came up short against Berks Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 12-8. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
