Baseball Game Preview: South Decatur Cougars vs. Hauser Jets

For the second straight game, South Decatur will face off against Hauser. The Cougars will face off against the Jets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Decatur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

South Decatur fell victim to Hauser and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jets. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Corey Nugent spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

The victory (which was Hauser's seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for South Decatur, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Decatur has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 stolen bases per game.
