Softball Recap: Harding Raiders vs. Canfield Cardinals

Harding was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 20-2 to the Canfield Cardinals. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly 18 runs.

Azarriah Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Jayda Hayes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Harding's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Canfield, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0-1.

Coming up, Harding will head out on the road to square off against Newton Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.86 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Canfield, they will welcome Champion at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cardinals have won ten straight at home dating back to last season, while the Golden Flashes won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
