Football Recap: Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets vs. Red River Bulldogs
Catholic of Pointe Coupee gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Red River Bulldogs 26-24. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Jude Morrison had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 119 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 105 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run. Another player making a difference was Myka Nippl, who rushed for 93 yards and one score.
Red River's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic of Pointe Coupee is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Crowley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Red River, they will head out to face off against St. Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
