Basketball Game Preview: Phoebus Phantoms vs. Heritage Hurricanes

The Phoebus Phantoms just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Heritage Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Phoebus is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Phoebus is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Woodside on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Phoebus was outmatched by Woodside and fell 87-45. While losing is never fun, the Phantoms can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Wolverines are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Heritage lost to Denbigh at home by a 63-46 margin on Friday. The Hurricanes haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Phoebus' loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Phoebus was able to grind out a solid win over Heritage in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 67-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Phoebus since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
