Basketball Recap: Harwood Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, Harwood faced Montpelier in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Harwood Highlanders were outmatched by the Montpelier Solons and fell 70-39. The match marked the Highlanders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading Montpelier to victory were Clayton Foster and Carter Bruzzese. Foster went 8 for 12 en route to 21 points and eight assists, while Bruzzese went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with six assists and four steals. Bruzzese's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Atif Milak, who posted six points and eight rebounds.

Harwood's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Montpelier, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Harwood has already played their next game (against Lyndon Institute), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Montpelier didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-49 win against Peoples Academy on the 24th.
