Shaker and Christian Brothers Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Bison will square off against the Brothers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shaker has three straight wins, Christian Brothers Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Shaker proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Mechanicville 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Brendan McLoughlin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Luke McCormick also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Christian Brothers Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Shenendehowa on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Plainsmen by a score of 12-10. Even if the Brothers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jacob Podlucky was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Shaker pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Brothers Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Shaker skirted past Christian Brothers Academy 3-2 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Brothers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
