While losing is never fun, Atkinson County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 227th in Georgia, while St. Amant is ranked 42nd in Louisiana).
Despite the defeat, Atkinson County saw an underclassman step up: Ja'Kari Northcutt scored 24 points. Kamari Moore was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Atkinson County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for St. Amant, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Atkinson County is on the road again on January 5, 2024 and play against Georgia Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
