League recap: Dimmitt tops Bovina to extend winning streak

Dimmitt extended the longest winning streak in 2A-1 Region I District 1 this week by beating Bovina, 28-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Dimmitt moved up to 418 from 566 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bobcats climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-7 win over the Mustangs.

Dimmitt's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bobcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Eric Oltiveros has thrown for 629 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Jacob Lule has 11 catches for 173 yards. Dontra Ewing leads the league in rushing with 301 yards.

Littlefield and Stratford played the most hotly contested game in 2A-1 Region I District 1 this week, with Littlefield eventually emerging with a 27-21 victory.
