Basketball Recap: Fredonia Lynx vs. Red Mesa Redskins

The Fredonia Lynx had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They secured a 36-30 W over Red Mesa. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 26% better than the opposition, as Fredonia's was.

Among those leading the charge was Charlie Anderson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Gracie Castor, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Red Mesa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shyla Pipkin. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Daleni Nakai was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.

Fredonia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Red Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fredonia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Phantoms at 1:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Grand Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Wednesday. As for Red Mesa, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Antelopes at 6:00 p.m. Seligman comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 13 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
