Basketball Recap: Richmond Red Devils vs. New Castle Trojans
Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Castle Trojans. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
New Castle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Miller, who went 5 of 9 en route to 18 points.
Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for New Castle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.
Richmond wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-62 win against Phalen Leadership Academy on the 11th. As for New Castle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-47 victory against Connersville on the 11th.
