Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Indians vs. Sterling Rangers

Santa Fe and Sterling are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. Both will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Santa Fe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.

Santa Fe's tournament run continued when they took on Bridgeland on Friday. Santa Fe took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bridgeland. The match marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Santa Fe's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aidan Jewell, who posted 20 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 47.6% of Santa Fe's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Crable, who had four points along with 17 rebounds and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 58-51 to Goose Creek Memorial.

Santa Fe has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Santa Fe came up short against Sterling when the teams last played back in November, falling 67-61. Can Santa Fe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
