Grant Union let Lakeview stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Saturday but luckily Grant Union prevailed anyway. The Prospectors won by a run and slipped past the Honkers 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Prospectors have posted since March 30, 2024.
Addy Northway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Reece Jacobs was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Taylor Palmateer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Grant Union has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lakeview, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grant Union will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Weston-McEwen/Griswold at 1:00 p.m. on May 16. As for Lakeview, they will be playing at home against North Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
