Baseball Recap: Flagler Palm Coast Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Flagler Palm Coast had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Creekside Knights by a score of 9-4. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Adam Kleinfelder was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Flagler Palm Coast's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 7-16 when he doesn't). Kleinfelder was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Carson Flis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Flagler Palm Coast is undefeated when Flis posts three or more RBI, but 7-16 otherwise. Marion Clayton was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Flagler Palm Coast is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Creekside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.

Looking ahead, Flagler Palm Coast will venture away from home to challenge Atlantic Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Creekside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
