Football Recap: New Hope Indians vs. North Jackson Chiefs
Friday just wasn't the day for New Hope's offense. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of the North Jackson Chiefs. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lucas Terry threw for 116 yards on ten of 21 attempts. Landon Tate-Matthews was his top target, picking up 51 receiving yards.
North Jackson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Price Jr. out in front who rushed for 213 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Price Jr. is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 130 every time he's taken the field this season. Keyton Long helped out on the ground, rushing for 120 yards and a rushing touchdown.
New Hope's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for North Jackson, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Hope will host Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Jackson, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Madison Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
