Basketball Game Preview: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Irmo Yellow Jackets

The Spring Valley Vikings will challenge the Irmo Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Spring Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.

While Spring Valley's win against Richland Northeast wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings skirted past the Cavaliers 57-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since December 18, 2024.

Dominique Briggs continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 80% from the field en route to 17 points. What's more, she posted four assists, the most she's had since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalaya Pinckney, who had 12 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Irmo played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 73-53 to Blythewood. The loss was the Yellow Jackets' first of the season.

Spring Valley will need to focus on slowing down Abby Livingston, one of several Irmo players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a triple-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. The game was Livingston's third in a row with at least 16 points. Lailah Singletary was another key player, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 13 boards.

The win got Spring Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Irmo, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Spring Valley strolled past Irmo when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 54-36. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
