After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Swink finally came back down to earth on Friday. They fell victim to a rough 8-1 loss at the hands of the Las Animas Trojans. Swink was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Las Animas apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Nick Paolucci was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Paolucci was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.
On Las Animas' side, Conan Tyler was excellent, going 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Swink's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Las Animas, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Swink by a score of 11-6 later that day.
