Baseball Recap: Foothill Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Foothill had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt West on Tuesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Trojans have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Levi Price was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Price was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Eduardo Rios and Ramon Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Rios scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Diaz scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Rios a new career-high. Carlos Ruano also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.4.

Foothill's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Foothill will have a chance to go back-to-back against West: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
