Football Recap: Olympia Spartans vs. Athens Warriors
After flying high against Pittsfield last Friday, Olympia came back down to earth. The Spartans took a 37-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Athens Warriors on Friday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Olympia lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kaden Collins, who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jimmy Lollar helped out on the ground, rushing for 143 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Olympia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ty Olson and Brody Hish.
Gage Honn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Athens, rushing for 206 yards and four TDs while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Honn is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 150 every time he's taken the field this season. Lincoln Kirk was another key back, rushing for 94 yards and one score on only eight carries.
Having lost for the first time this season, Olympia fell to 3-1. As for Athens, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.
