Basketball Recap: Cocoa Beach Victorious

Cocoa Beach hadn't done well against Satellite recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cocoa Beach Minutemen secured a 46-40 W over the Satellite Scorpions. This was a revenge game for the Minutemen: when they faced off against the Scorpions back in December of 2024, they had to take a 58-55 defeat.

Jayesiah Carr was the offensive standout of the game as he went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and five boards. Jude Mohr-Bollinger also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Cocoa Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Satellite still got an impressive performance from K'Dnce Cataldo, who went 8 of 20 en route to 23 points. That was a full 57.5% of Satellite's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Xavi Madrid, who had six points.

Cocoa Beach has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-13 record this season. As for Satellite, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Cocoa Beach has already played their next game, a 61-30 win against Halifax Academy on the 24th. As for Satellite, they will head out on the road to face off against Palm Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Satellite is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.
