Charles J. Colgan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against James Madison, sneaking past 3-2.
Charles J. Colgan took James Madison into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-27, 15-8.
Meanwhile, West Springfield faced Grassfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Grizzlies.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-12, 25-20.
Charles J. Colgan better keep an eye on Audrey Busch. She was instrumental in West Springfield's win, getting 11 digs and three aces. Busch is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Dierks, who had 11 digs and two aces.
West Springfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 26 consecutive contests.
West Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 29-2. As for Charles J. Colgan, their win bumped their record up to 28-4.
Charles J. Colgan beat West Springfield 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September of 2018. Will the Sharks repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
