Basketball Game Preview: Esparto Spartans vs. Creative Connections Arts Academy Dragons

The Esparto Spartans will face off against the Creative Connections Arts Academy Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Esparto has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 19.

Last Tuesday, Esparto was beaten by Elite 86-23.

Despite the loss, Esparto saw an underclassman step up: freshman Landon Yanez posted 12 points. That was a full 52.2% of Esparto's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocky Boyd, who scored three points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Creative Connections Arts Academy lost 84-60 to Westlake Charter on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Explorers : they've now lost three in a row.

Creative Connections Arts Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-8. As for Esparto, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Esparto was taken down by Creative Connections Arts Academy 50-20 when the teams last played on January 7th. Can Esparto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
