Softball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Torrey Pines Falcons

The Carlsbad Lancers will challenge the Torrey Pines Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carlsbad took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Mission Vista 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since May 15, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Emerson Jarrard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Torrey Pines). They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over Sage Creek on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won five in a row.

Torrey Pines' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Carlsbad, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
