Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

Roosevelt is 2-7 against Thompson Valley since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Roughriders will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Roosevelt will be strutting in after a win while Thompson Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Roosevelt will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Timnath, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Roughriders made off with a 48-47 victory over the Cubs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Roughriders.

Meanwhile, Thompson Valley lost to Timnath at home by a 71-54 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Cubs are ranked 28th).

Thompson Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Roosevelt, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Roosevelt got the 'W' when the teams last played back in January against Thompson Valley by a conclusive 76-53 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roughriders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
