Basketball Recap: Henderson County Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Henderson County won against Union County last Friday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Henderson County Colonels snuck past the Evansville Reitz Panthers with a 56-50 win. Winning may never get old, but the Colonels sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Despite the defeat, Evansville Reitz had strong showings from Lavell Tinsley, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards, and Jaylan Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayce Swanson, who posted eight points.

Henderson County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Evansville Reitz, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henderson County will take on Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Evansville Reitz, they will challenge Evansville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
