Soccer Recap: Merrimack Valley Comes Up Short

Merrimack Valley's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of the Oyster River Bobcats by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Merrimack Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Hampshire soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Oyster River are ranked fifth).

This is the second loss in a row for Merrimack Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-4-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-1-3 Pembroke (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 84.4% over those games). As for Oyster River, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Merrimack Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Oyster River will square off against rival Pembroke at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few goals on average (Oyster River 0.4, Pembroke 0.5) so any goals scored will be well earned.
