Baseball Recap: Pius X Takes a Loss

Pius X fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Waverly on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-1. The Thunderbolts were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Tyler Parr was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Pius X's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Waverly, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Pius X and Waverly will both be playing North Platte the next time they take the field. Waverly will host North Platte at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while Pius X will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
