Baseball Game Preview: IMG Academy Gold Ascenders vs. Southwest Florida Christian King's

The IMG Academy Gold Ascenders will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest Florida Christian King at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Things were looking good for IMG Academy Gold after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 6-3 to Bolles. The Ascenders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

IMG Academy Gold saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Hudmon, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Southwest Florida Christian lost 13-4 to Canterbury last Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the King's have suffered against the Cougars since March 15, 2019.

IMG Academy Gold's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Southwest Florida Christian, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. IMG Academy Gold has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southwest Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

IMG Academy Gold couldn't quite finish off Southwest Florida Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can IMG Academy Gold avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
