Softball Game Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Skyridge Falcons

Lone Peak is 1-8 against Skyridge since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Knights will venture away from home to take on the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lone Peak was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past American Fork 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Clara Gourley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Lone Peak saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Colledge, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Colledge has posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Skyridge beat Springville 14-10 on Friday.

Isabella Plewe was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Kaylie Power was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Skyridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lone Peak, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 5-14.

Lone Peak might still be hurting after the 17-3 defeat they got from Skyridge when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
