Basketball Recap: Astronaut Comes Up Short

If Astronaut was riding high fresh off their 62-31 takedown of Space Coast last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Astronaut War Eagles fell just short of the Cocoa Beach Minutemen by a score of 50-48 on Friday. The War Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Minutemen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Cocoa Beach was led to victory by Jude Mohr-Bollinger and Garrett Ronsisvalle. Mohr-Bollinger went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points, while Ronsisvalle posted ten points and five steals. With that strong performance, Ronsisvalle is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Kaden Taival was another key player, putting up three points.

Astronaut has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Cocoa Beach, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cocoa Beach beat Astronaut by a score of 59-56 on Saturday.
