Basketball Recap: Creekside Triumphs

Creekside was handed a 37-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Arlington Christian 61-59. The score was all tied up 33-33 at the break, but the Seminoles were the better team in the second half.

It was another big night for Daylen Jones, who went 7 of 8 from beyond the arc to rack up 41 points. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. AJ McKissic was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds.

Creekside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They are 4-13 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Arlington Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chezi Essel, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and six assists. Essel is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sean Jackson, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points.

Creekside's victory bumped their record up to 5-20. As for Arlington Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5.

Creekside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-47 win against Forest Park on the 8th. Arlington Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
