Recap: Southern Prep Academy Fighting Rangers vs. Springwood Wildcats
The Southern Prep Academy Fighting Rangers and the Springwood Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Southern Prep Academy Fighting Rangers had to settle for second. Southern Prep Academy was outmatched by Springwood on the road and fell 61-14. Southern Prep Academy's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Southern Prep Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kevin Mason, who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and Jahziyah Anderson who gained 156 total yards and a touchdown. Mason was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.
Springwood found their leader in underclassman Cj Johnson, who rushed for 359 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Dylan Reeves was in the mix too, providing Springwood with two touchdowns.
Southern Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Springwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Southern Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Springwood will take on Cornerstone Christian at TBD on Thursday. Cornerstone Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
