Football Game Preview: Summerville Green Wave vs. James Island Trojans

Summerville is a perfect 4-0 against James Island since October of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Green Wave will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

James Island will be up against a hot Summerville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Green Wave really took it to Stall for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-6 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-6.

Meanwhile, James Island hadn't done well against West Ashley recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans breezed past the Wildcats to the tune of 49-7. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Wildcats are ranked 89th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Summerville better keep an eye on Connor Dantzler. He was instrumental in James Island's win, throwing for 182 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 63 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Dantzler is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Crumpton, who picked up 44 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

James Island was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

James Island's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Summerville, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Summerville took their victory against James Island in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 26-0 score. Do the Green Wave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
