Gilmour Academy won the last time they faced Magnificat and things went their way  on Wednesday too. The Lancers were the clear victors by  a  16-5 margin over the Blue Streaks. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Lancers.
 Layla Fortunato was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. Fortunato was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with three  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Ava Gundling was a standout: she scored three  runs and  stole three bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  doubles (two). Another player making a difference was  Ava Paradise, who  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
 Gilmour Academy  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magnificat only posted  an  OBP of  .375.
Gilmour Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Magnificat, their loss was  their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 2-5.
 Coming up, Gilmour Academy will face off against Ursuline at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Magnificat, they will challenge Brunswick at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
