Basketball Recap: Windermere Prep's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Windermere Prep was the 85-82 winner over Windermere when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Windermere Prep Lakers fell 69-57 to the Windermere Wolverines on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Wolverines are ranked seventh).

Despite the loss, Windermere Prep still got an impressive performance from Samuel Shoptaw, who went 5 for 9 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Shoptaw is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Bass Jr., who posted 17 points and five rebounds.

The loss snapped Windermere Prep's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-8 record. As for Windermere, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

Windermere Prep has already played their next game, a 48-47 victory against Blake on the 18th. As for Windermere, they will square off against Apopka at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
